Tyler & Company is pleased to announce we have been retained for an exciting search for a Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer Penn State Health, including Penn State College of Medicine.

The Organization: Penn State Health has five hospitals and 57 multispecialty outpatient clinics across nine counties in central Pennsylvania.  The system employs more than 1,400 providers and nearly 13,500 total work force members.  The organization is growing quickly — strategically adding providers, services, and building a new hospital to further support the region.  Penn State Health shares an integrated strategic plan and operations with Penn State College of Medicine, the University’s highly regarded medical school.  Additionally, Penn State Health and Highmark Health are involved in an innovative strategic partnership with plans for a collective investment of more than $1 billion toward the development of a high-value, community-based health care network designed to keep care local and enhance collaboration with community physicians. The community network will be anchored by the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the region’s only university teaching and research hospital.

The Opportunity: Reporting to the CEO of Penn State Health, this CIO will act as a business partner, internal consultant and strategic advisor to the senior management team and employee work force in support of the missions of the Penn State Health System (PSH) and College of Medicine (COM).  With support from a large team, this executive will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of all elements of the Information Technology, Informatics, Data/Analytics, and the Health Information Management functions.  As a member of the enterprise executive leadership team, the CIO participates in and contributes to overall enterprise business strategy development, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of leveraging information and technology in business model design, business processes re-engineering, products and services development.

The Candidate: The successful candidate must have more than 5 years’ experience in a senior information technology leadership role within a complex teaching and medical center environment, or within a health system experiencing the integration of IT cultures as a result of acquisition and/or merger.  Experience implementing and optimizing the full suite of IT solutions in such an environment is important.  An advanced degree in a related field from an accredited institution is required.

The Community: Hershey, Pennsylvania is a thriving suburban town in one of the fastest growing regions of the state.  Surrounded by diverse communities such as Harrisburg, Lebanon, and Lancaster, and less than 95 miles from Philadelphia and Baltimore, it provides residents and visitors with employment, cultural, and recreational opportunities that are attractive to people of all backgrounds. Central Pennsylvania’s second largest industry, Hershey Foods Corporation, is also headquartered in Hershey.
