ATLANTA - Stefan M. Werdegar joined Tyler & Company's Austin, Texas, office as Vice President. Having worked for well-established software vendors, his experience and knowledge in information technology (IT), including healthcare IT, have secured his seat as lead of this subspecialty practice within the firm. Werdegar not only will work on executive healthcare recruitment, but also within Tyler & Company's Signium Division, which focuses on general industry as well as domestic and international search.

Werdegar is able to help organizations solve business challenges via his knowledge in enterprise technology. Within healthcare IT, he understands major trends and challenges facing healthcare organizations today, including electronic medical record (EMR)/electronic health record (EHR) migration and/or implementation; demonstration of meaningful use; decision-support and quality-reporting needs; and the movement toward accountable care organization (ACO).

Through the years, his involvement with technology and IT services suppliers has led to in-depth understanding of a variety of information systems solutions in the market, from enterprise resource planning systems, storage and servers, to consulting services, to Microsoft datacenters and databases. Through his tenure at Unisys Corporation, a worldwide IT services and technology company, he provided these types of solutions for a variety of organizations, including those that are commercial, in the public sector and/or involved in e-commerce.

Dennis J. Kain, Tyler & Company President, explains, "As all healthcare providers move to an electronic patient record, the need for effective executives in information technology has escalated. Our clients have asked us to develop a practice that focuses on such leaders. We're thrilled with Stefan's arrival as he not only will direct our IT practice in healthcare and general industry, but also strengthen our growing Southwest presence by joining Nelson Mann, Senior Vice President, in our Austin office."

Mann opened Tyler & Company's Austin office in 2005. Since then, he has worked for clients that include not-for-profit, for-profit and community hospitals, as well as teaching institutions and clinics. In 2008, after passing a rigorous and competitive review, analysis and evaluation, Texas Hospital Associationendorsed Tyler & Company as its sole retained executive search firm.

Werdegar says, "I am excited to be part of the Tyler & Company team. Among my primary goals for the healthcare IT practice is to assist healthcare organizations find the right executive leaders who can guide them in taking advantage of both clinical and financial trends, such as meaningful use and accountable care/physician alignment. It will be crucial for healthcare providers to have this talent on hand (via a variety of strategic roles) as new demands are placed for organizations to provide measurable quality care, to drive down cost, and to deal with new models of reimbursement and CMS funding.

"I also will be leveraging my years of experience on the vendor side of healthcare IT and technology to assist manufacturers and distributors of software, services and technology to place leaders in sales, development, customer service and implementation roles," Werdegar adds.
