Children are unique ....
So are children's hospitals and the men and women who lead them.

More parents are seeking out children’s hospitals for the care of their children vs. taking them to local hospitals or academic medical centers that treat children and adults. There are 250 children’s hospitals in the United States, which represent fewer than 5 percent of all hospitals.  Yet, according to the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI), children’s hospitals account for more than 40 percent of inpatient days and 50 percent of costs for all children hospitalized in our nation. In total, this represents about $10 billion of care annually.

Healthcare delivery to a pediatric population differs greatly from delivery to adults. Several years have passed since Tyler & Company set out to understand these differences, and we’ve become active in NACHRI. We’ve also formed an internal task force to provide a forum for our discussions. By working closely with our children’s hospital clients and sharing observations and lessons learned from each project, we’ve gained a perspective as unique as the children’s hospitals we serve. We’ve learned – and continue to learn – a great deal about the pediatric research environment, medical device development, pharmaceutical testing, child advocacy, training of pediatricians and pediatric sub-specialists, as well as child safety and quality initiatives.

Our efforts in this area have contributed to an enhanced understanding of children’s hospitals and their environment, which enable us to serve our clients in a greater capacity, at an even higher level. Our team includes a pediatrician and a former child psychologist, as well as others who collectively have performed hundreds of senior-level searches for all types of children’s hospitals and service organizations. These include six of the top 10 children’s hospitals, according to Parents magazine’s 2009 list.

Our recent children’s hospital leadership searches include the following positions:
