Our Physician Leadership and Physician Organizations practice has a solid track record of recruiting successful physician practice leaders. The market is quite diverse, and we have experience in virtually all areas, including large independent physician groups, academic faculty practices, hospital- and health-system-affiliated practices and for-profit firms that provide physicians on an outsourcing basis. Tyler & Company strives to recruit and place “A” players in all of these categories.

Private Practice

Although 47% of private physicians work in practices of 1 to 2 physicians and 82% in practices of 9 or fewer, the value to an individual physician of being part of a larger physician practice is becoming more evident as the years go by.   Better life balance and leverage with hospitals and payors all are important considerations.

Hospital and Health System

The upcoming crisis in physician supply (retiring boomers), the emphasis on quality outcomes, public reporting and P4P will force hospitals, health systems and physicians to work more closely together. This will bring back physician-hospital organizations and/or expand the umbrella of hospital-sponsored physician organizations. The recent malpractice crisis has caused many physicians to seek “cover” with local health systems.

Of the 5,000 hospitals, one could easily estimate that 1,000 have or will have some form of physician practice ownership. Many successful hospitals in the Northeast have 100+ physicians in their networks and estimate substantial future growth.

Academic

Clinical departments with faculty of 20 or more require leaders who can assist in growing revenues while understanding the dynamics of research compliance, earning the trust of departments. There is a continuous emphasis to have these leaders be financially astute to help the department become successful in meeting budget goals.

For-Profit Physician Management Firms

A growing group of specialty driven companies also are in need of senior leadership talent.
