Statement Of Policy On Diversity Recruitment
In an increasingly diverse world, organizations are seeking to demonstrate to their stakeholders a commitment to incorporating into their organization, executives who are representative of the communities they serve. It is important for Tyler & Company to be an active participant in helping our clients achieve their diversity objectives. In renewing our commitment to address the diversity issue, on behalf of our clients and for ourselves, Tyler & Company resolves to implement and sustain the following policies, which affirm our inherent values as executive search consultants and individuals. The CEO of Tyler & Company is our Chief Diversity Officer and is responsible for the implementation of these policies:
To develop and present an annual program within our firm to discuss and foster diversity initiatives regarding diverse candidates.
To establish quantifiable, annual goals for interviewing and presenting diverse candidates on every search we conduct.
To serve as an advocate of diversity programs through speeches, articles, attendance at educational programs, and individual mentoring of prospective candidates.
To seek speaking opportunities at historically black colleges to advocate graduate school enrollment in healthcare administration programs.
To attend and lecture at the annual meetings of African-American and Hispanic executives to meet and talk with executives aspiring to develop their careers, especially in non-public provider organizations.
To encourage and help each Tyler & Company client to evaluate and meet a diverse group of candidates, especially in metropolitan regions that are attractive to diverse executives.
To withdraw from search engagements when clients exhibit discrimination or bias, either actively or passively, against diverse candidates.
To seek and engage in executive assessment consulting with clients regarding their diverse managers who have growth potential and are suitable for promotion to more senior positions.
To maintain a policy of proactively seeking and employing diverse staff within our firm such that we “practice what we preach.”
To support programs of and maintain an ongoing relationship with the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, the National Association of Health Service Executives (NAHSE), and the Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives.
To interview at least one diverse candidate on every search we conduct.
To consult and counsel with diverse candidates at each opportunity in order to help them with their careers.
To advertise all openings of this firm on the NAHSE Web site and Diversity Connection, a job posting site sponsored by the Institute for Diversity in Health Management.
In serving our clients through these diversity initiatives, we will, in turn, be fulfilling our active commitment to a more inclusive, equitable and tolerant society.
