Survey Visit | The Thorough Gathering of Information
Our consultants will conduct a one- to three-day survey visit to gather information through interviews with the management team.
Preparation of Client/Candidate Profile
We will prepare a document reflecting the client, the position, the type of candidates we are seeking and the community. This packet will help in promoting the opportunity to sources and interested candidates.
Recruiting and Sourcing
While we have one of the best databases in healthcare and a computer system that is unrivaled by larger and smaller competition, we do not limit our search to our files. Based on the specifications, we will devise a nationwide recruitment plan and set upon our task to proactively recruit excellent candidates who meet the specs and are interested in the job.
We believe in treating internal candidates in the same manner as external candidates. We are committed to presenting diversity in our candidate pool and work overtime to ensure these applicants are included.
The Long List
The results of our recruiting and sourcing efforts will be documented in the “long list,” which is a slate of qualified and interested candidates for the client’s evaluation. Post this review, we will personally interview all selected candidates, check their preliminary references and ask them to take our DiSC behavioral assessment.
To our knowledge, we have the largest database of DiSC scores for healthcare executives (more than 3,000). The DiSC instrument helps us to assess how the candidates compare with other healthcare executives and assists us in formulating additional questions for the interview process. The report is available to our clients.
Candidate Presentations
We will create a complete dossier/presentation packet for the final candidates we recommend progress to on-site interviews.
References and Background Checks
We believe in phased reference checks, which fall into four categories: supervisor, peer, subordinate and “other.” The “other” category includes references from board members, physicians, consultants, etc. Thorough reference checking includes contacting individuals from all four categories.
On-site Interviews
We will work with your staff to schedule on-site interviews and prepare customized interview forms to achieve consistent feedback on candidates and to compare candidates against original specifications.
Negotiation and Conclusion
We believe that direct negotiation between the candidates and the search committee or CEO is the best way to finalize contractual arrangements. We facilitate these negotiations by including the board chair or CEO and any attorneys in contract preparation.
Follow up
Our facilitation and involvement continue after the successful candidate is on board. We will be in periodic contact with both the placed candidate and the board chair or his/her immediate supervisor(s) to ascertain that things are going smoothly.
