Company History

Larry Tyler is a Certified Public Accountant who got his start at Price Waterhouse (PW).  After leaving PW, he worked as a CFO for a construction company and a cosmetics company before deciding to try his hand at executive search.  As (his) luck would have it, the CEO of the executive search firm retired five months into Larry's tenure, leaving him with a difficult choice: find another position or buy the search firm.

Larry took the risk and purchased the executive search part of the business in 1978.  Starting with himself and a part-time assistant, Larry's primary focus that first year was financial searches in general industry.  Once he signed his first healthcare client, Larry found his passion and the business began to flourish.  His background provided instant credibility among financial types and by the end of his second year, Larry was providing services exclusively to the healthcare industry.  The company's name was officially changed to Tyler & Company in 1983.

Today, Tyler & Company is one of the strongest, most stable executive search firms in the country. Not only did the firm celebrate its 30-year anniversary in 2008, in April of that year, Tyler & Company became a member/shareholder of Signium International, a worldwide consortium of executive search firms.  Signium membership allows us to keep our own ownership and control, while at the same time serving clients on a worldwide basis. For more on this relationship, please visit Larry Tyler's blog.

In November 2008, Tyler & Company passed a rigorous and competitive review, analysis and evaluation by  Texas Hospital Association, which endorsed Tyler & Company as its sole retained executive search firm. Tyler & Company was featured in an article about Best Practices published in THA's magazine January/February 2009. Currently, Tyler & Company has 11 consultants, 10 research associates (recruiters) and a total complement of 30 people in five offices.  Along with our home office in Atlanta, we maintain offices in Philadelphia, Charlotte, Austin and Cleveland.
